ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Premature birth is the #1 killer of babies. There are approximately 15 million premature births that happen every year in the World. That is more than 1 in 10 babies!
Unfortunately, lots of these births happen very unexpectedly, so families of premature babies are very unprepared when they give birth. This means that there isn't enough resources to keep up with the need. Plus, some families and hospital's cannot cover the expenses of premature baby supplies. The average cost for a healthy baby is $4,389, and the average cost of a premature baby is $54,194.
Project Preemie is addressing this issue by not only getting the word out there, but by generating this website where anyone can help out the cause by donating much needed supplies that will go directly to neonatal units.
